How do you know when children and teens are depressed or struggling with mental illness? If they are, where can you turn for help? A panel of experts will address those and related questions at a Youth Mental Health forum on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive. The 90-minute discussion and question-and-answer session will begin at 6 p.m.
Panelists will be Elizabeth Walther, Chief of Clinical Services, NAS Whidbey Island; Charlene Ray, Forefront Suicide Prevention Coordinator and Clinical Supervisor for Island County Human Services; Ryan O’Donnell, Program Manager of Island Children Intensive Services, Compass Health; and Steve King, Associate Superintendent, Oak Harbor School District. Jessica Aws, librarian and Oak Harbor School Board Director, will moderate.
The forum is part of the Sno-Isle Libraries Issues That Matter series, meant to encourage community conversations on high-profile topics. These events are free and open to the public, and are livestreamed at facebook.com/SnoIsleLibraries/. Funding for is provided by the
