Sound Waters University brings together people passionate about life in Puget Sound. Held since the early 1990s on the first Saturday in February on Whidbey Island, WA, it now attracts 600+ people yearly. No prior knowledge is required to attend - just an interest in learning about and taking care of this amazing place that we call home.
Attendees can choose from 60 or so fun and informative classes and presentations about the natural world and the fragile environment of this special place in the Salish Sea.
Now more than ever, learning about this beautiful place we call home is both an exciting educational opportunity and a chance to see how to make a difference in our fragile natural environment.
Returning for our 27th year, Sound Waters University will launch a new chapter in 2021 with our first virtual event. As in past years, attendees can choose from a wide variety of informative classes, from climate change to birds, whales, coastal geology and so much more. New in 2021, instead of only being to register for 3 classes, attendees will have the wonderful opportunity to listen to all our exciting speakers, with 12- 14 sessions planned. This means that while the live portion of our event only happens on February 6th, you will have full access to all these wonderful classes after the event to explore at your leisure.
Some of our exciting class subjects include:
- Orcas
- Climate Change
- Earthquakes
- Asian Giant Hornets
- Marine Birds
- Forest Health
- And so much more!
