Join Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor for an evening of hilarious Mel Brooks' musical comedy in a fundraiser performance of THE PRODUCERS at Whidbey Playhouse. See this show that is bound to be a sellout before it opens its four week run! Tickets are $25 each and include refreshments in the Playhouse lobby at 6:30; the curtain will go up at 7:30. Funds raised from the evening will support the local Soroptimist club's efforts to improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Based on the Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name, this Mel Brooks masterpiece chronicles the side-splitting adventures of washed-up Broadway producer Max Bialystock and his mild-mannered accountant Leo Bloom, as they scheme to get rich quick by producing the most notorious flop in the history of showbiz. It’s a comic tour-de-force that spoofs the big, old-fashioned Broadway musical while paying tribute to it at the same time.
