Description

The Celtic Arts Foundation is pleased to be able to offer workshop opportunities for local musicians to study with Realta on Monday, March 11th, 2019 from 6:30-8:00PM. Enjoy small class sizes and personalized instruction for all ability levels at this great opportunity to study Irish music! Classes are available for whistle, DADGAD guitar, and Uilleann pipes. Conor Lamb: Uilleann pipes, whistle Conor began learning whistle with the Glenavy based flute player Brendan Mulholland. At the age of thirteen he took up the Uilleann pipes after hearing Liam O’Flynn at the Lorient Festival Interceltique. He studied in Belfast with influential pipers such as Tom Clarke and Paddy O’Hare, and in recent years has toured throughout Europe and America as a member of Craobh Rua and Avalon Celtic Dances. Loic Blejean: UIlleann pipes, whistle From Brittany, France, Loic’s music is informed by his native culture as well as his passion for Irish tradition. Technically brilliant and supremly musical on both his instruments, his playing is characterized by a crisp and clean style with wonderful clarity in the separation of notes. He began playing pipes in 1989 under the tuition of Alain Le Hegarat. He’s traveled extensively through Ireland and has collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, including Paul Flynn, David Muldrew, and bands Glaz and Gwazigan. Deidre Galway Deirdre grew up in a classical musical environment, studying and competing on piano and clarinet. After successfully achieving Grade 8 in her classical music exams she decided to branch out and began experimenting with jazz, rock and Irish traditional music. Accompanying on DADGAD guitar and researching old songs, Irish music is now her passion. Deirdre has toured throughout Europe with The Gráinne Holland Band and Avalon Celtic Dances and is also studying for a BA in Irish language and literature.
